Privacy Policy — Chip's Jack Machine

Last updated: August 12, 2026  ·  Applies to the iOS and Android versions

The short version: Chip's Jack Machine has no accounts, no ads, no trackers, and no servers. We do not collect any data about you. Your patterns and audio never leave your device unless you deliberately export or share them yourself.

What we collect

Nothing. Chip's Jack Machine (“the app”) contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no third-party tracking libraries, and no crash-reporting service of our own. The app has no user accounts and no login, and we operate no server that receives anything from it.

On Android the app declares no permissions whatsoever — including no internet permission — so the operating system prevents it from making any network connection at all. The iOS version likewise contains no networking code.

Diagnostics collected by Apple and Google

While we collect nothing, the app stores themselves may provide us with limited, anonymised diagnostic information — but only if you have opted in to sharing it with developers:

  • iOS: if you have enabled sharing analytics with app developers (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us aggregated crash logs and performance data through App Store Connect.
  • Android: if you have enabled sharing usage and diagnostics data with Google, Google Play may give us aggregated crash and stability reports through Play Console.

This information is gathered and anonymised by Apple or Google, not by us. It describes how the software behaved — things like a device model, an operating-system version, and where the app stopped working. It never contains your name, your email address, or any of your patterns, projects, or audio. You can turn it off at any time in your device settings, and the app works identically either way.

Your patterns, projects, and audio

Everything you make stays on your device. Saved projects (.house files), exported audio (WAV, M4A, stems), and any audio you load into a voice are written only where you choose, and are never uploaded, scanned, or transmitted anywhere. We have no way to see them.

If you share a file yourself — by email, AirDrop, cloud storage, or any other means — that transfer is handled by the service you chose and is governed by that service's privacy policy, not this one.

Permissions and file access

The app requests no runtime permissions such as microphone, camera, contacts, or location. Opening and saving files uses your system's own file picker (the Storage Access Framework on Android, the document picker on iOS), so the app is granted access only to the specific file you pick — never to your wider storage.

Children's privacy

The app is a general-audience music tool and is not directed at children. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Selling, sharing, and your rights

We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose personal information, because we never receive any. As there is no account and no stored personal data, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or delete on request. If you want to remove everything the app has put on your device, delete your saved files and uninstall the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app's store listings.
